On June 23, Bangkok MP Rakchanok Srinok from the Prachachon Party posted on Facebook addressing Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, following the resignation of former Labor Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn. Before resigning, Pipat had signed an order to establish a disciplinary committee to investigate civil servants involved in the controversial SKyy 9 building investment by the Social Security Office, dated June 16.

Rakchanok pointed out that with Pipat now gone, the public must closely watch who will be appointed the next Labor Minister. She raised concerns about the ongoing SKyy 9 investment scandal and budget misuse during the tenure of former Labor Minister Suchart Chomklin, who has repeatedly denied any involvement.

She posed three key questions to the Prime Minister:

  1. If Suchart’s claims of ignorance are true—being unaware of major projects like SKyy 9 and budget issues within his own ministry—should someone so uninformed still be considered for a Cabinet position? She criticized his failure to act during alleged procurement corruption and the lack of any substantial reform or accountability efforts during his tenure.
  2. Suchart currently serves as Deputy Commerce Minister. Rakchanok questioned his performance in this role, citing plummeting agricultural prices, the unchecked spread of “gray Chinese capital,” inadequate trade protection, and weak export performance. She asked what significant achievements had been made, aside from a brief export boost due to U.S. stockpiling over Trump-era tariffs.
  3. She urged Prime Minister Paetongtarn not to prioritize family interests over national welfare, stressing that Suchart does not belong in the Cabinet. Rakchanok hinted that the public knows where someone with Suchart’s record truly belongs. She called for a swift investigation into the SKyy 9 case and promised continued oversight by herself and fellow Prachachon MPs.
