On June 17, reporters stated that the Special Committee on the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Bill began its session at 9:00 a.m. with the following agenda:

  1. Chairman’s announcements (if any)
  2. Review of the fiscal year 2026 budget bill, specifically Section 9 (Ministry of Finance), Section 40 (State debt management plan), and Section 41 (Reimbursement to the treasury), covering 10 agencies and 3 funds
  3. Other business (if any)

Later, at approximately 8:00 p.m., MP Rakchanok Srinork from the People’s Party, representing Bangkok and serving as the 18th Vice Chair of the Budget Committee, called for a quorum count, stating, “I will count it every day from now on.”

The quorum check revealed that only 21 out of the 73 committee members were present, resulting in the meeting’s collapse.

In response, MP Chawal Phonmuangdee from Chonburi’s Constituency 3 (People’s Party) posted:
“MP Ice Rakchanok called for a quorum check—Government side mostly absent, meeting collapsed!!”

Despite the disruption, the committee is scheduled to reconvene on June 18 at 9:00 a.m. to continue reviewing Section 9 (Ministry of Finance and 7 affiliated agencies), Section 40 (State debt management), and Section 10 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
