On June 3 in Nakhon Pathom, Pol. Col. Achirawat Thawornchareonwat, Superintendent of Mueang Nakhon Pathom Police Station, confirmed that Ms. Natthawadee, 28, along with her husband Theeranit’s parents, met with police to seek justice after Theeranit died in custody.

According to Ms. Natthawadee, on the night of June 2 around 2:00 AM, her husband left home in his pickup truck to work in the Rama II area. Along the way, he encountered a police checkpoint. Fearing arrest for possessing methamphetamine, he allegedly swallowed over 40 meth pills and fled. Police reportedly caught him and attempted to retrieve the drugs by inducing vomiting, recovering only the packet.

Theeranit was then taken to Nakhon Pathom Hospital for a drug test, where he told the doctor he had swallowed two pills. He was kept for observation for two hours before being returned to the police station for booking and confinement.

Ms. Natthawadee said she visited him around 8:00 AM and found him in normal condition. However, he suddenly began convulsing, seizing the cell bars, and collapsed. She alerted the officers, and inmates helped carry him down from the second floor. He began bleeding from his mouth and nose. Paramedics from Nakhon Pathom Hospital performed CPR en route, but he was pronounced dead at 3:40 PM on June 2. Ms. Natthawadee added that the investigating officer treated her disrespectfully and failed to assist her husband.

Pol. Col. Achirawat stated that the case has been reported to higher authorities and a committee will be established to investigate. He affirmed the police would ensure full transparency and fairness. Initially, Theeranit had claimed to have taken only two pills, which wouldn’t be fatal—but later evidence showed he had swallowed over 40.
