On May 27, reporters in Loei province reported continued heavy rainfall, particularly in Phu Kradueng District, where precipitation from May 25–27 reached 113 mm. This has caused water levels in the Phong River to rise steadily.
Originating in Phu Kradueng National Park, the Phong River has overflowed, flooding over 150 homes in villages such as Huai Duea, Nayung Tai, Nayung Nuea, Na Paen, and Phanak Khao, along with hundreds of acres of farmland. The Huai Duea bridge, which connects two subdistricts, is now submerged, making it impassable for small vehicles.
Authorities issued Cell Broadcast and SMS alerts urging riverside residents to move belongings and pets to higher ground as the situation worsens.
District Chief Supharuek Noisuwan confirmed the floodwaters have hit crisis levels in multiple villages in Sri Than subdistrict (Moo 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 16), with water rapidly spilling into homes. Roads like Sri Than–Na Noi and those between Nayung villages (Moo 4 and 5) are flooded and inaccessible to small cars. Flat-bottom boats have been deployed.
In Phanak Khao subdistrict, villages Moo 1–4 and 6–9 are in crisis. Officials have advised residents to prepare for evacuation. Water has already reached behind Phanak Khao Community School, which has been closed for a day while authorities monitor the situation.
