On May 24, Bangkok MP Natcha Boonchaiinsawat of the People’s Party addressed the upcoming parliamentary debate on the 2026 Budget Bill, scheduled for May 29–31. He announced that the party had already developed a strategy and was fully prepared, coining the debate’s slogan: “This time, we’re even helping the state find money.”
Natcha criticized the government’s budget framework as being out of touch with current realities, such as U.S. tariff pressures and domestic economic challenges. He stated that the requested budget allocations and proposed projects do not match the actual needs of the people.
When asked if the People’s Party would target specific ministries during the debate, Natcha replied, “We’re locking onto all ministries—every one of them will be scrutinized.” He noted that coalition parties appeared to be moving in different directions, jockeying for political advantage in anticipation of a potential early election. According to him, ministries were being used for premature campaign purposes.
He predicted the 2026 budget debate would be intense, with growing fractures within the ruling coalition already visible. Over the four-day debate, he said, the public would gain clearer insight into how much longer the government can function effectively. He also suggested that the budget might conceal politically motivated projects designed to benefit certain parties in the next election.
