On May 22, Bangkok MP Suphanat Minchaiyanun of the Prachachon Party disclosed that he has instructed his team to submit a petition to the Minister of Interior to investigate the Parliament building for violating building control laws. The building lacks the legally required number of parking spaces, prompting a controversial second budget request of 4.6 billion baht to build additional parking.
Suphanat called for accountability from the Secretariat of the House of Representatives, design and construction firms, and regulatory bodies involved in the project. He criticized the 10-day design tender for the new parking project, worth 104.5 million baht, citing concerns of unfair advantage and lack of transparency.
