At 3:00 PM on May 21, Maj. Gen. Thammanoon Maisonthi, spokesperson for the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), reported a shooting incident near a paramilitary outpost in Pattani Province.

The incident occurred beside the operational base of Paramilitary Company 4215, located in Moo 5, Ban Nam Bo Tawan-ok, Ban Nam Bo Subdistrict, Panare District. Two officers, Sgt. Sarawut Kaewchanrit and volunteer Paramilitary Officer Phongdet Nanewsuk, had gone out to inspect a water pump system adjacent to the base.

During this routine check, another officer within the base, Volunteer Paramilitary Officer Prawit Liamphon, opened fire on Phongdet, injuring him in the abdomen and arm, then fled the scene.

The injured officer is currently receiving treatment at Panare Hospital. Security personnel are working to persuade the suspect to surrender, while coordinating closely with the police and related units for further investigation.

Commanding officers have been briefed on the situation and have issued urgent directives concerning area security, the safety of personnel, care for the injured, and a thorough investigation into the motive behind the shooting. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
