Following frequent reports of construction incidents on Rama II Road—particularly falling debris that has injured motorists—Mr. Natthapong Sumonotham, Member of Parliament for Samut Sakhon from the People’s Party, voiced concerns on May 20 via Facebook.
He challenged the Minister of Transport to explain when the proposed “contractor scorecard” system, which is expected to address safety and construction accountability, would be implemented. He asked how many demerit points contractors have received for recent accidents and how affected citizens would be compensated.
"How do we fix this once and for all?" he wrote. "Do you still believe contractor scorecards are the solution? If so, why are these incidents still happening? Is it because the system hasn’t started yet—or is the scorecard itself insufficient?"
