On January 2, Ms. Suchada Sang Tanthap, Secretary to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), and spokesperson for the ministry, addressed reports of a university offering a training course for Chinese nationals as "Volunteer Police." The program, allegedly conducted in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Bureau Region 3’s investigative office, charges participants 38,000 baht each.
Upon learning of the news, Minister Supamas Issaraphakdi directed Permanent Secretary Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul to investigate and verify the facts. The university in question has been contacted and requested to clarify the purpose of the program and its compliance with legal and institutional standards.
Ms. Suchada emphasized that MHESI is taking the matter seriously and is committed to uncovering the truth. Should any irregularities or misconduct be discovered, the ministry will promptly take corrective action in accordance with established measures.
