The aircraft skidded along the runway and caught fire, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
Kirati Kitmanawat, President of Airports of Thailand (AOT), extended his deepest condolences to the victims and their families. He confirmed that there were no abnormalities reported during the aircraft’s departure from Suvarnabhumi’s runway 02R or in the conditions of the aircraft or runway at the time of takeoff.
AOT stated that there were no bird strikes or obstructions reported on the runway by relevant agencies during the departure. Safety measures, including runway inspections, lighting system maintenance, bird deterrence programs, and adherence to international safety standards, were in place at the time. AOT reiterated its commitment to prioritizing the safety of aircraft and passengers.
