The Comptroller General’s Department has approved a budget of 4.9 billion baht for the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) for the 2025 fiscal year. The funds will be allocated to national sports associations to support their participation in international competitions. This approval comes after a prolonged delay that left sports associations struggling to fund athlete preparation since October 2024.

Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the SAT, acknowledged the widespread difficulties faced by sports associations due to the budget delay. He assured that the SAT had been actively coordinating with the Comptroller General’s Department to address the issue.

“With the recent approval, the funds will be disbursed to sports associations immediately after the National Sports Development Fund Board meeting on January 7, 2025,” Dr. Kongsak stated.

This timely allocation is expected to alleviate the financial strain on sports associations and ensure athletes are adequately prepared for upcoming international events.
