Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, assigned Deputy Minister of Transport, Mrs. Monporn Charoensri, to preside over the inauguration of Highway No. 3019 in Mukdahan province. The project celebrates King Maha Vajiralongkorn's 72nd birthday and serves as a New Year 2024 gift to the public, enhancing convenience, safety, and living standards.
The newly developed 14.211-kilometer route connects Highway 212 and Ban Bang Sai Yai in Muang district. It includes a four-lane reinforced concrete road with safety features such as lighting, signage, sidewalks, drainage systems, and four bridges. With a budget of 804.159 million baht, this road improves transportation efficiency while reducing traffic congestion in urban areas.
Key benefits include supporting Mukdahan’s role as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), enhancing logistics between industrial zones and the Second Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge, and facilitating trade and tourism connectivity with neighboring provinces Kalasin and Nakhon Phanom. The route aligns with Thailand’s vision to become a regional logistics hub by boosting economic opportunities and connecting large and small cities.
During the event, Mr. Montri Dechasakulsom, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, emphasized the road’s role in enhancing national and cross-border logistics. Local officials, including Mukdahan Governor Mr. Worayan Bunnarat, attended the ceremony alongside ministry executives, the media, and residents.
