A 59-year-old tourist, identified as Mr. Sunan, tragically passed away after falling from a 60-meter-high cliff at the Phu Laen Kha National Park in Chaiyaphum Province, Thailand. The accident occurred around 5:00 PM on December 7, 2024, at the "Huai Nak Cliff," a popular viewpoint frequently visited by tourists. The site was also being prepared for New Year's Eve celebrations.
The national park's rescue team, along with local volunteers, faced significant challenges in their rescue efforts due to the dense vegetation and steep terrain. After hours of rappelling and navigating the rugged area, the injured man was found 20 meters below the cliff, conscious but in severe pain with critical leg injuries. First aid was administered, and the team transported him to Chaiyaphum Hospital. However, despite resuscitation efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at 10:20 PM the same day.
Initial reports suggest the man was visiting the viewpoint with friends to photograph the sunset when he accidentally slipped and fell. Friends immediately notified authorities, who launched the complex rescue operation.
The victim’s family has since arranged for his body to be taken for religious rites.
