On December 3, 2024, at approximately 3:00 PM, a material transport elevator at Rise and Rich Co., Ltd., in Bangkok’s Taling Chan district, malfunctioned, leading to one fatality and three injuries. The accident occurred when a eucalyptus log and tools being transported caused the elevator to detach and fall from the fifth floor to the first floor.

The victims included one fatality, 43-year-old Thai national Amnat Klaijing, whose family will receive compensation, including funeral costs of 50,000 baht and additional financial support equivalent to 70% of his wages for up to 10 years. Injured victims were employer Veerachai Ratchathanich, 51, and two migrant workers, Ton Sibouaheuang, 26, from Laos, and Kham, 25, from Myanmar, who are receiving medical care under the Workmen’s Compensation Fund.

The Ministry of Labour, led by Minister Phipat Ratchakitprakarn and the Social Security Office (SSO), has committed to ensuring victims and their families receive their entitled benefits. The SSO has dispatched teams to provide assistance and clarify entitlements. The Secretary-General of the SSO, Mrs. Marasri Jairangsee, emphasized the ministry’s role in offering timely and comprehensive support to the affected individuals.
