The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEP), has introduced a high-speed internet service project to reduce technological disparities and enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities.
NBTC Commissioner Torpong Selanond emphasized the initiative's goal to provide equal access to basic telecommunications services for all, especially for persons with disabilities who rely heavily on communication devices for daily activities. The project offers mobile internet at 20 Mbps with unlimited data usage (excluding calls) to 1.1 million eligible individuals until July 31, 2025.
Eligibility requires a valid disability ID card registered with DEP and a state welfare card. Registration is open until December 31, 2024, on sim-disabled.nbtc.go.th, with SIM cards delivered via mail. Users may choose a new SIM or transfer their current number by dialing 151National ID Number# before completing registration online.
