On November 29, during a mobile Cabinet meeting at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University’s Mae Rim campus, government spokesperson Jirayu Huangsap announced that the Cabinet acknowledged a proposal to enhance social welfare benefits, specifically increasing monthly allowances for seniors and persons with disabilities. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) has been tasked with refining the plan before resubmitting it for Cabinet approval.

The proposed adjustments include the following increases for senior citizens:

  • Ages 60–69: From 600 to 700 THB per month
  • Ages 70–79: From 700 to 850 THB per month
  • Ages 80–89: From 800 to 1,000 THB per month
  • Ages 90 and above: From 1,000 to 1,250 THB per month

Additionally, the monthly allowance for persons with disabilities would rise from 800 to 1,000 THB. The MSDHS and related agencies are instructed to prioritize efficiency and effectiveness in implementing these changes and to seek final approval from the Cabinet upon review.
