On November 27, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit held a meeting with the Airlines Association of Thailand to address high airfares during festive seasons, particularly the upcoming New Year 2025 celebrations. The initiative aims to reduce airfare costs and provide a safer, more affordable travel experience for Thai citizens as a New Year gift.

Major airlines, including Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, Thai VietJet, and Thai Airways, agreed to offer special fares for approximately 50,000 seats. These discounted tickets, offering a 30% reduction from peak fare prices, will cover round-trip routes such as Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Hat Yai, Samui, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Khon Kaen, and Nan.

The promotion applies to travel between December 26, 2024, and January 5, 2025. Tickets must be booked directly through designated airline channels between December 5–7, 2024.

Minister Suriya expressed confidence that this collaboration between the Ministry of Transport, government agencies, and private airlines would facilitate affordable, convenient, and safe travel, enabling citizens to reunite with families and enjoy domestic tourism during the New Year period.
