Buriram United suffered a 3-0 loss to Japan's Kawasaki Frontale in the fifth match of the 2024/25 AFC Champions League Elite group stage, held at Buriram Stadium on November 26.
The first half ended scoreless, but the visitors broke the deadlock in the second half. In the 72nd minute, Sota Miura unleashed a half-volley that bounced past Neil Etheridge’s outstretched hand and into the net.
Kawasaki extended their lead with two stoppage-time goals. In the 90+4th minute, Shin Yamada set up Daiya Tono, who fired a precise shot into the goal. Three minutes later, Soma Kenta assisted Yusuke Segawa, who returned the ball for Kenta to score from close range.
With this loss, Buriram United remains with 7 points from five matches, falling to ninth place in the group due to an inferior goal difference, despite being tied in points with teams ranked fourth to sixth. The team still has three matches left to fight for a chance to advance.
