On November 24, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the Thai government is implementing policies to alleviate electricity costs for citizens. The Ministry of Energy is accelerating legal amendments to streamline the installation of solar rooftop systems and plans to provide affordable solar energy equipment. Despite efforts to cap electricity rates at 4.18 baht per unit, rising costs remain a burden, prompting sustainable measures like legal reforms and cost-effective solar technology.

The Ministry of Energy has successfully developed a prototype inverter, a key solar energy device, which is currently undergoing quality and safety tests to meet international standards. Production and market availability of these inverters, along with other solar equipment, are targeted for 2025. These products are expected to be significantly cheaper than current market prices.

Under the leadership of Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, the government aims to promote solar energy as a long-term solution to high electricity costs. This initiative highlights innovation and affordability to ease the financial burden on households.
