On November 23, Surin Province held a special election to select a new president for its Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) following the resignation of Mr. Pornchai Mungcharoenporn three months before his term ended. Five candidates contested the election.

Voting took place across 17 districts, 36 constituencies, and 2,326 polling stations, with 1,080,633 eligible voters. Polls closed at 5:00 PM, and vote counting began immediately. By 12:57 AM on November 24, unofficial results showed:

  1. Thanyaporn Mungcharoenporn: 222,756 votes
  2. Pornchai Mungcharoenporn: 211,537 votes
  3. Natthamon Siriwatthanavanich: 81,612 votes
  4. Phattharaphon Hongsung: 4,503 votes
  5. Chalong Sattrattanamai: 15,503 votes

Thanyaporn Mungcharoenporn, wife of Surin MP Pakorn Mungcharoenporn from the Bhumjaithai Party, won the election. She is a member of the prominent Mungcharoenporn family and the niece-in-law of Pornchai, the runner-up.
