In the early hours of November 16, authorities in Tak Province successfully intercepted an illegal logging operation. Joint forces from the 35th Ranger Special Task Force and officials from the Mae Tuen Wildlife Sanctuary in Mae Ramat District pursued and seized three pickup trucks carrying processed rosewood planks near Ban Huai Maprao, Mae Tuen Subdistrict.
The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of 45 rosewood planks, totaling 4.53 cubic meters. Details of the seized vehicles include:
- Toyota Revo (Silver): Driven by Mr. Anan (43), carrying 20 planks.
- Toyota Revo (Black, unregistered): Driven by Mr. Kraipet (35), carrying 18 planks.
- Toyota Revo (White, unregistered): Abandoned by its driver, carrying 7 planks.
The suspects attempted to use the distractions of the Loy Krathong festival as a cover for their activities, believing law enforcement would be preoccupied. However, authorities successfully pursued and detained the offenders. The seized vehicles and timber were handed over to Mae Ramat Police Station for further legal proceedings.
