On November 11, the Thai Constitutional Court received a response from the Attorney General’s Office regarding a petition submitted by Thirayot Suwankesorn. The petition seeks to order former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the Pheu Thai Party to cease actions allegedly violating the rights and freedoms under Thailand’s 2017 Constitution that could undermine the democratic system with the monarchy as head of state, as outlined in Article 49.
Attorney General Pairat Pornsombunsiri submitted the official response to the court on November 8. The court was initially scheduled to review whether to accept the case on November 13 but postponed due to judicial obligations abroad and on November 20. A decision on whether to proceed with the case will now be made on Friday, November 22.
