On November 11, Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit addressed the absence of affordable, non-air-conditioned private buses on former BMTA routes in Bangkok. Notably, Route 8, a heavily used line, lacks low-cost options for commuters. Suriya stated that he has assigned Deputy Transport Minister Surapong Piyachote to handle the matter, including exploring solutions such as potential contract revisions or new bids.
Additionally, Suriya acknowledged public calls for a fare system based on travel distance due to concerns about high fares. He reiterated that all specific decisions regarding these issues would be managed by Surapong.
